How do i become a chef in Japan?

Published by admin under How to be a chef

I am a culinary student at on of Americas top 3 culinary institutes and I have always wanted to live in Japan and am in the process of learning the language. I just want to know if anyone has any information on how I would go about becoming a chef in Japan or even getting started.

It depends on which food you want to cook as a chef.

But usually, you need job offer from a Japanese company to get working visa of Japan. So you have to find an employer who will hire you as a chef first.

As you want to work as a chef, not as a manager of a restaurant, you need someone to hire you.

I would see if I could get a job at one of the big international hotel chains there.

Japanese people really believe in professional training, so I suggest that you look into some kind of food program here in Japan. It would help your language ability, you would be able to see how they do things here, and you would make valuable contacts.
